  • Offender Management Inspections

    • The programme is inspecting offender management in each criminal justice area in England & Wales over a 3 year period starting in May 2006.

  • Youth Offending Team Inspections

    • The programme is led by HMI Probation, with participation from eight other criminal justice and other inspectorates. The programme is inspecting all 155 YOTs over a 5 year period from mid-2003

  • Supporting People Inspections

    • The inspection programme is led by the Audit Commission with a contribution from HMI Probation. The programme inspects the provision of accommodation to enable vulnerable people to live independently.

  • Thematic Inspection Reports

    • HMI Probation carries out some thematic inspection work, increasingly on a joint basis with other criminal justice and other inspectorates

  • Joint Criminal Justice Area Inspections

    • Joint inspections of criminal justice areas with other CJ inspectorates is conducted under the auspices of the Criminal Justice Chief Inspectors’ Group
