Royal Military Police
HMIC were commissioned by the MOD to conduct an inspection of the Royal Military Police Special Investigations Branch. This inspection focused upon assessing processes and procedures of high level 3 investigations dealing with major crime or serious and organised crime.
However, it did not engage itself in judgements concerning the appropriateness of specific lines of enquiry as it was not a review of individual operations or investigations.
The HMIC inspection is a result of a recommendation from an internal review. The review was all about driving forward a regime of continuous improvement in the Service Police.
