HMIC Strategic Business Plan 2009/11

HMIC adopts a risk-assessed approach to prioritising work, based on our core objectives of: driving up police performance; providing assurance to stakeholders; making input to Home Office policy-making; contributing to criminal justice system improvement; and, providing advice and consultative support to chief constables and police authority members. This business plan sets out the specific priorities and targets for 2009/11.

Criminal Justice Inspectorates’ Joint Inspection Business Plan 2008/09

Following Government’s decision in October 2006 not to proceed with the amalgamation of the five criminal justice (CJ) inspectorates - of police, CPS, court administration, probation and prisons - the Chief Inspectors undertook to deliver an enhanced collaborative programme of joint inspection. This programme specifically addresses cross-cutting CJ issues around ‘community safety’, ‘bringing offenders to justice’, ‘offender management’ and ‘custodial conditions’, and is set out in full in the Joint Inspection Business Plan.
