Performance Review Inspection: Cheshire - July 1996

The major structural review of the Cheshire Constabulary, which was reported upon in depthfollowing the Primary Inspection of the Force in 1995, continues to make good progress and HMInspector was encouraged with the work that has already been completed. Good workingrelationships exist between the Chief Constable and his command officers, and with representativegroups within the Force and this has contributed substantially to the gains that have been made.The Chief Constable understands that as the fine tuning continues, what is now required for thecorporate strategy is a further clarification of links between various parts of the planning process,further refinement of the financial implications to be laid out for each of the essential strategies, andthat the corporate planning cycle is adhered to and integrated into the policing plan.
