Inspection Protocol for Strategic Planning and Performance Review
Almost a century before Sir Robert Peel pushed through the Metropolitan Police Act 1829, HenryFielding set himself two objectives, (i) to stamp out existing crime, and (ii) to prevent freshoutbreaks in the future. To help achieve these two objectives three strategies were put in place,(i) To gain the co-operation of the public, (ii) The development of a stronger police force and(iii) The removal of the causes of crime and the conditions in which it flourished. Thereforestrategic planning is not new yet it was not until the 1980�s that police forces began toapproach planning in a serious way.
