NIM issues for BCU inspections
The National Intelligence Model (NIM) is the accepted good practice model for the
application of intelligence- led policing at both BCU and force level. The NIM is
likely to be one of the first aspects of policing that is enshrined as a code of practice
that all forces must adopt – ie, the NIM is not discretionary, and compliance with
NIM principles and approaches will be a focal point of HMIC inspection in future. So
what are we looking for in terms of our BCU inspection programme?
