Inspection Protocol for Information Technology
Technology now pervades all areas of policing, influencing the handling of information,operational practice and interactions with the public.This protocol deals only with the use of technology within the service. It specifically addressesnational and force level strategic matters, the processes by which technology is procured,implemented and maintained, and the way in which the planned benefits are realised. Thosetasked with preparing other inputs to the inspection process will need to consider thecontribution that IT can make in those specific areas. In particular the work of the ACPOInformation Management Committee in considering the contribution IT systems can make toinformation and knowledge management by should be borne in mind.
